Cost

£10.00 per person. Friends of Copped Hall (on production of membership card) and Children Under 16 – Free.

Mansion – Cellars, Stables, Ground and First Floor
Gardens – inc Site of Earlier Houses and Walled Garden

Access to Cellars and 1st Floor of the Mansion is currently via staircase only. Gardens are undulating/uneven lawn surfaces with some paths on a sloping site. The Walled Garden is also on a sloping site. Very limited access currently for wheelchair users.

Description

Tours last about 2.5 to 3 hours. Visitors are accompanied by an experienced guide throughout who will explain the rich history of Copped Hall, covering the whole of the Gardens, including the sites of the earlier houses, the Walled Garden and a large part of the existing Mansion. Tea, Coffee and home made cakes are available approximately mid way through the tour. There is also our shop selling books about Copped Hall and a range of other items. In addition, there are exhibitions on site and a second hand book shop. At most times of the year we sell plants, seasonal fruit and vegetables from the Walled Garden.

Description

Tours are in 3 parts; The Servants areas of the Mansion (Cellars and Ground Floors), Family areas of the Mansion (Ground and First Floors) and the Garden areas (Lawns, sites of earlier houses and Walled Garden). Visitors are free to choose which and how many they wish to do, all are accompanied by an experienced Guide. Tours will leave at 15min intervals, each lasting about an hour. Light lunches and refreshments are available until about 2pm. There is also our shop selling books about Copped Hall and a range of other items. In addition, there are exhibitions on site and a second hand book shop. We also sell plants, seasonal fruit and vegetables from the Walled Garden.

Open Days

2020
Sundays: 24 May and 30 August
Entry 10.00 per person. Free to Friends, children under 16 and necessary carers.
11.00am – 4.00pm

There will be access to the whole of the gardens, parts of the mansion (with room stewards present), the cellars and the stables. Tea, coffee, home-made cakes and lunch are available, as well as a bar selling alcoholic drinks. There are stalls and exhibitions, home-made and home-grown produce for sale, and the Trust shop will be open.

Private Tours

Private tours of the house and grounds are welcome on weekdays and Sundays provided they do not clash with other events.
Your party should have at least 20 people. Larger groups may be divided, each group having their own knowledgable and enthousiastic guide.
Cost: £12.00 per person which includes tea or coffee and homemade cakes. A £50.00 deposit will be needed to secure the data.

Garden Afternoons

The First Sundays of the Month, from April to September inclusive.
5 April, 3 May, 7 Jue, 5 July, 2 August, 6 September
Entry 5.00 per person. Free to Friends, children under 16 and necessary carers.

Location

Gardens – inc Site of earlier Houses and Walled Garden.

Gardens are undulating/uneven lawn surfaces with some paths, all on a sloping site. The Walled Garden is also on a sloping site. Currently very difficult access for wheelchair users.

Description

Gates are open from 2.00pm with last entry at 4.00pm. The car park closes at 5.15pm. Garden afternoons provide an opportunity to wander around at leisure and talk to our volunteer gardeners. A map with a brief description of the gardens is provided on arrival. Refreshments are available until 4.30pm. The Copped Hall shop is open at the same times. The Mansion is closed on these events. Plants, seasonal fruit and vegetables are available for sale from the Walled Garden.

Apple Day

Sunday 13 October 2019
Entry £10 per person. Free to Friends, children under 16 and necessary carers.
11.00am – 4.00pm

Access to both gardens and mansion (room stewards) as for open days. Apple Day is a national annual celebration of our apple orchards and local distinctiveness. Join in the fun, play some traditional games, help with the juicing and have your own apples identified by our expert. There will be a display and apples for sale. There will also be entertainment, refreshments and bar, lunches, produce for sale and the Trust shop.


At all the above events dogs are welcome but must be kept on leads. No dogs (except Guide/Assistance dogs) are allowed in the Mansion. The Refreshments team have agreed to accept dogs on leads in the Tea Room.
