Cost

£10.00 per person. Friends of Copped Hall (on production of membership card) and Children Under 16 – Free.

Location

Mansion – Cellars, Stables, Ground and First Floor
Gardens – inc Site of Earlier Houses and Walled Garden

Access to Cellars and 1st Floor of the Mansion is currently via staircase only. Gardens are undulating/uneven lawn surfaces with some paths on a sloping site. The Walled Garden is also on a sloping site. Very limited access currently for wheelchair users.

Description

Tours last about 2.5 to 3 hours. Visitors are accompanied by an experienced guide throughout who will explain the rich history of Copped Hall, covering the whole of the Gardens, including the sites of the earlier houses, the Walled Garden and a large part of the existing Mansion. Tea, Coffee and home made cakes are available approximately mid way through the tour. There is also our shop selling books about Copped Hall and a range of other items. In addition, there are exhibitions on site and a second hand book shop. At most times of the year we sell plants, seasonal fruit and vegetables from the Walled Garden.

There is no need to book for the Monthly Guided Tours; just turn up between 10.00am and 11.00am. Cash or card payments are accepted.

* In 2020 there will be an extended Guided Tour day on 19 July, where tours will be in three parts – upstairs, downstairs and garden, each lasting no more than an hour. Visitors can take as many tours as they wish. Gates open at 10.00am; last entry at 1.00pm.

Gates Open 11.00am to 4.00pm

Description

Visitors are able to explore both the Gardens and parts of the Mansion, including the Stables and cellars, at their leisure. There are no guided tours but Room Stewards will on hand to answer questions. Tea, coffee, home-made cakes and lunches are available, as well as a bar selling alcoholic drinks. There are stalls, exhibitions, home-made and home-grown produce for sale and a number of musical and children’s events. The Trust shop will also be open.

Description

Gates are open from 2.00pm with last entry at 4.00pm. The car park closes at 5.15pm. Garden afternoons provide an opportunity to wander around at leisure and talk to our volunteer gardeners. A map with a brief description of the gardens is provided on arrival. Refreshments are available until 4.30pm. The Copped Hall shop is open at the same times. The Mansion is closed on these events. Plants, seasonal fruit and vegetables are available for sale from the Walled Garden.

APPLE DAY

Description

Apple Day is our national celebration of our apple orchards and local distinctiveness. Join in the fun, play some traditional games, help with the juicing and have your own apples identified by our expert. There will be a display and apples for sale. There will also be entertainment, refreshments and bar, lunches produce for sale, the Trust shop and a wide collection of craft and food stalls.
