7 April 2019
9.30 am – 4.00 pm
In this one-day class you will be introduced to some of the most popular Blackwork stitch techniques by embroidery tutor & artist Amy Burt. Amy was trained at the Royal School of Needlework where she now works as a tutor as well as embroidering for many of London’s fashion houses. Blackwork is most well-known from the Tudor period where it was used as a decorative stitch for collars and cuffs. It is a ‘counted’ technique using linen fabric and cotton threads.
In this class you will learn 5 Blackwork stitches such as Tulip, Open Zig-Zag, Octagonal Square as well as other embroidery outline stitches.
Your kit will contain Belfast linen with the flower design, stranded cotton, tapestry needles and an instruction booklet.
Bring your own lunch but coffee and tea will be provided.
