Walled Kitchen Garden
Spring is fast approaching and we have been busy during the winter months preparing the garden for a new growing season. This year we will be growing cucumbers, melons, squash and pumpkins as usual. There will be seven different varieties of tomato as well as sweetcorn, runner beans, leeks, cauliflower, carrots and beetroot. We are also growing “flower sprouts” which is a cross between sprouts and kale and is a brand new introduction from the growers.
If you have purchased potatoes from us you will be aware that we grow different varieties and this year we will be planting an incredible seventeen varieties. If you are visiting Copped Hall make sure you purchase some when they are on sale.
We will shortly be renovating the compost bins as the current ones have started to fall apart. We are also planting the border opposite the white border with roses which will be under-planted with herbs and rock plants. New pots will be planted up for spring on the new path in front of the vine house. It is also hoped that further progress will be made with restoration of the glasshouses.
There is a lot of work in the garden during the busy spring into summer seasons and we would love to have new volunteers to help. If you are interested for more information speak to Pat if you are visiting the garden or email
