I came down to London from my retirement home to attend the 21st Anniversary of the purchase of Copped Hall by the Trust.
It was important to me to be there and to see all the people that have contributed to our success in so many different ways. It was a lovely occasion and thanks to Helen Lowther and the refreshment ladies for organising the wonderful buffet.
As Alan pointed out in his speech, the principles for the future of Copped Hall were established 30 years ago and have been gradually worked towards without compromise.
I am so very pleased to have been involved in the saving of Copped Hall from the arrogant and unthinking large-scale development proposals. I hope what we have achieved at Copped Hall might inspire other communities to resist the destruction of places of such historical, architectural and landscape importance.
As always, I send my best wishes to you all and good luck for the future.
