STUDY DAY

The Art and Mystery
of the Blacksmith

Date & Time

Sunday 26 April 2026
Gates will open at 10.30am for a 11.00am start.

Cost

£25 per person.
Gates open 3.00 pm.

Location

The lecture will take place on the ground floor of the mansion and the gardens, including the Walled Garden area. The Gardens and the route to the Walled Garden are undulating, uneven lawn surfaces with some paths, all on sloping site. As a result, only part of the study day, within the mansion, is suitable for those mobility issues.

Description

Join us for this Study Day where we will be let into the mysterious world of the blacksmith. Led by professional blacksmiths Steve Miller and Peter Trick, this day will begin with a lecture on the history of the craft and its origins. After lunch, we will visit the Walled Garden gates, which were meticulously restored by Steve and Peter. We will learn about the process of restoring the gates and attendees are encouraged to bring along their own blacksmithing questions. Attendees should bring their own lunch. We will provide tea/coffee at arrival and in the afternoon.
